Geo Koryu is a Certified Evans Method Mondern Dance Instructor and native of Japan. He studied Japanese sword dance with Kensei Namiki; traditional style swordsmanship with Ken Morita; Japanese Butoh dance with Yoshito Ohno, Yukio Waguri, and Seisaku; American Modern Dance with Bill Evans, Angela Dennis, and Pilobolous Dance Company; Central Asian and Persian Dances with Narah Bint Durr; and Hawaiian Hula Kahiko dance with Aunty Lani.
Geo was an Artist in Residence at Bronx Academy of Arts and Dance in 2012, and also at Center for Remembering and Sharing in NY, NY and at Leimay at Cave in Brooklyn NY, both in 2016. He also performed Japanese sword dance presented by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust almost every year since 2009. He enjoys choreographing original solo dance pieces by integrating all the disciplines he studied. Today, he will be presenting a Hawaiian Hula Kahiko dance with fire torches, followed by fire dance with three other props. Please enjoy the spectacle of fire dance show while keeping a safe distance!
