It’s always a beautiful day in the Downtown neighborhood, but this holiday season is about to get a whole lot more neighborly! Now, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership has expanded its Holiday KidsPlay program to offer free, fun, educational, and hands-on activities in collaboration with Fred Rogers Productions and community partners.
Located in the Heinz Hall Courtyard at the corner of Liberty Ave and Sixth Street, the Holiday KidsPlay Zone will be a perennial holiday attraction themed around the award-winning series from Pittsburgh’s first family of children’s programming including Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood, Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood, Odd Squad, Peg + Cat, and Through the Woods.
Intended to reflect Fred Rogers’ philosophy of generosity and kindness as an essential part of the holiday spirit, Holiday KidsPlay is a free program. Space is limited and subject to first come, first served availability. In particularly busy times, visitors may be asked to sign up for upcoming time slots.
We’re delighted to have the opportunity to join with Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership and so many of our city’s institutions to embrace the togetherness, good will, and joy of the coming holiday season,” said Paul Siefken, President & CEO of Fred Rogers Productions. “They all work tirelessly year-round to support children and families with hands-on experiences, and we’re honored to participate with them in Holiday KidsPlay.”
