For New Year's Eve, Texture will present excerpts from "A Simple Twist of Fate" and "Timbre," which are Texture original works choreographed by Kelsey Bartman and Alan Obuzor. This program will be an exciting mix of ballet, music, and contemporary dance. Texture resident dancers will be featured alongside Texture guest dancers and music will include selections by Glass Animals, The Airbourn Toxic Event, alt-J, and Bob Dylan.
Texture is comprised of classically trained professional ballet dancers who have danced and trained at some of the top ballet companies and schools in America. Resident and guest dancers are brought together to create and present predominantly contemporary and neo-classical work.
Texture strives to inspire dancers, teachers, directors, choreographers, audience members, and artists of every kind, by presenting ballet in an innovative way. The organization believes it is important to break through preconceived notions that people may hold while witnessing ballet for the first time. Yet simultaneously, Texture fulfills the expectations of frequent theatergoers and those who are deeply submerged in the dance world. Therefore, Texture is both unique and inviting, while still upholding standards of technique and presentation.
In the studio and on the stage, Texture tries to create a supportive environment where all artists - whether dancers, choreographers, musicians, or designers - can thrive, grow, and learn from each other. It is through this community of shared passion, energy, and encouragement that Texture is able to create and present such cohesive, yet multi-faceted, performances that move audience members and ignite or foster an appreciation of dance.
