Tadashi, a native of Japan, is an interpretive dancer. He possesses a Masters Degree in Exercise Physiology and is a Certified Evans Method Modern Dance Instructor.
In this performance at Highmark First Night Pittsburgh, Tadashi will present originally choreographed Japanese sword dance pieces that integrate traditional Japanese sword dance, martial arts techniques, and American modern dance.
His movement training ranges from Japanese swordsmanship (studied with Ken Morita), Japanese sword dance (studied with Kensei Namiki), Japanese Butoh dance (studied with Yoshito Ohno, Seisaku and Yuri, and various other Butoh masters), American modern dance (Angela Dennis, Kristina Isabelle, and Bill Evans), middle-eastern dance (studied with Narah Bint Durr), and various other ethnic dances. He has performed and choreographed interpretive dance in Pittsburgh, New York, Cincinnati, Dayton, Columbus, and various other cities.
